JFK Airport lounges can give you somewhere to eat, work or freshen up before a flight. Some offer restaurant dining and shower suites; others provide a simpler break from the departure area. The right choice depends on your terminal, access entitlement and available time.
This guide compares nine lounge options and groups across Terminals 1, 4, 5 and 8. Whether you are flying in economy, connecting between flights or considering paid access, start with the options that fit your journey.
Quick Answer: Which JFK Airport Lounges Can You Use?
For most travellers, the best JFK lounge is in their departure terminal and covered by an existing ticket, card or membership benefit. If you need to buy access, Admirals Club offers a $79 day-pass route with an eligible flight, while JetBlue BlueHouse sells passes to selected customer groups.
Before choosing, check the entry window and how much time remains before boarding. A lounge with the right facilities near your gate can be more useful than a more elaborate option elsewhere in the airport.
JFK Airport Lounges Compared
| Lounge or group | Terminal | Main access route | Paid access / restrictions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Primeclass | T1 | Priority Pass and participating programmes | Membership visit or reservation fees may apply |
| Air France | T1 | Qualifying airline entitlement or Priority Pass | Priority Pass restrictions apply during peak hours |
| Centurion | T4 | Specified American Express cards | Guest charges depend on the card |
| Chase Sapphire with Etihad | T4 | Specified Chase cards and their access benefits | Day passes only where offered; limited operations |
| Delta Sky Club | T4 | Qualifying card, membership or airline entitlement | Visit limits and guest charges can apply |
| Delta One Lounge | T4 | Delta One and specified premium entitlements | No general day pass |
| JetBlue BlueHouse | T5 | Qualifying Mint fare, Mosaic status or JetBlue card | Selected groups: $59 or $79 |
| Admirals Club | T8 | Membership, airline entitlement or eligible pass | $79 day pass with an eligible flight |
| Greenwich, Soho and Chelsea | T8 | Specific premium tickets or frequent-flyer status | Admirals Club passes do not apply |
Paid guest admission and membership reservations are different from public day passes. A charge for bringing a companion or reserving a space does not necessarily let an unrelated traveller buy entry.
Before You Choose a JFK Lounge
Choose your departure terminal first. Transfers between JFK’s separate terminal buildings normally involve leaving the secure area and passing through security again. A lounge booking does not guarantee admission through another terminal’s checkpoint. Our JFK Airport Guide explains the layout.
Check the admission window, guest charges and walk to your gate. A maximum three-hour stay is different from permission to enter only within three hours of departure.
Terminal update — October 2026: The first phase of New Terminal One is expected to open in 2027. The Terminal 1 lounge locations below refer to the existing terminal. Recheck your airline’s terminal and lounge arrangements for your travel date, particularly as relocation announcements appear.
1. Primeclass Lounge — A Practical Priority Pass Option in Terminal 1

Location: After security, near Gates 8 and 9.
Access: Participating lounge programmes, including Priority Pass, under their respective conditions.
Primeclass is a useful starting point for Terminal 1 passengers who already have lounge access through a membership. The Primeclass Priority Pass listing allows entry within three hours of scheduled departure and a maximum three-hour stay.
You need a confirmed same-day outbound boarding pass. Opening hours vary by day, so check the schedule for your departure rather than relying on a single daily opening time.
Priority Pass also displays a pre-booking option. Read the reservation conditions in your account, including any additional fee and the benefits covered by your membership.
Best fit: Terminal 1 passengers using an existing membership for a break before departure.
Watch for: Cocktails and premium drinks can cost extra. A membership visit does not necessarily include every item available in the lounge.
2. Air France Lounge — Useful Outside the Restricted Afternoon Period

Location: Terminal 1, airside near Gate 1.
Access: Qualifying airline passengers and Priority Pass members under separate admission rules.
Air France is another Terminal 1 option worth comparing with Primeclass, particularly when your membership’s admission window matches your flight.
The Air France Priority Pass listing currently shows opening hours of 07:00–00:00, with possible restrictions between 13:00 and 17:00.
For Priority Pass visits, the maximum stay is three hours. The listing requires the cardholder to be at least 21, with confirmed same-day travel for the member and guests. This condition should not be read as a blanket ban on children accompanying an adult.
Best fit: Terminal 1 membership holders travelling outside the restricted afternoon period.
Watch for: Priority Pass admission does not automatically include every premium service available to Air France’s own qualifying passengers.
3. The Centurion Lounge — Dining and Workspace for American Express Cardholders

Location: Terminal 4, Level 4, just beyond security.
Access: Specified American Express cards, subject to the applicable card and flight requirements.
The Centurion Lounge combines dining, bars, coffee and work facilities. For someone who already holds a qualifying card, it can be a convenient way to use an existing benefit before a Terminal 4 departure.
The official JFK Centurion Lounge page currently lists opening hours of 05:00–22:00.
Platinum cardholders generally enter within three hours of departure, with separate arrangements for qualifying connections. Priority Pass alone does not provide admission.
Best fit: Qualifying American Express cardholders who want food and somewhere to work before their flight.
Watch for: Guest benefits vary by card and issuing market. Check the cost for your partner or children rather than assuming your own complimentary access covers everyone.
4. Chase Sapphire Lounge with Etihad Airways — For Specified Chase Cardholders

Location: Terminal 4, near Gate A2.
Access: Specified Chase cards, with the required boarding pass and access credentials.
The Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club with Etihad Airways publishes facilities including food ordered to your seat, work and relaxation areas, Wi-Fi and bookable showers.
Complimentary card-based access covers:
- Chase Sapphire Reserve primary cardholders and authorised users.
- J.P. Morgan Reserve primary cardholders and authorised users.
- Ritz-Carlton Credit Card primary cardholders and authorised users.
- Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business primary cardholders.
Sapphire Reserve for Business employee cards do not include this benefit. Sapphire Preferred alone also does not provide complimentary access.
A standalone Priority Pass or LoungeKey membership from another provider does not by itself provide complimentary Sapphire Lounge admission under the current access arrangements. This is separate from the Chase-issued Priority Pass Select benefit attached to qualifying Chase cards.
The official JFK Sapphire Lounge page currently lists 05:00–23:00 hours alongside a temporary limited-operations notice.
Best fit: Travellers with a qualifying Chase card who have checked the current operating arrangements.
Watch for: Confirm shower and meal availability during limited operations. The operator permits day-pass sales where offered, but availability and pricing must be established for this specific lounge.
5. Delta Sky Club — Choose the Location That Fits Your Gate
Location: Terminal 4, near Gate A8 and Gate B31.
Access: Qualifying memberships, cards, premium tickets or specified airline-status benefits.
Delta’s two Sky Club locations give qualifying passengers a choice within Terminal 4. If both are available to you, proximity to your gate can matter more than crossing the terminal to try a different club.
The Delta Sky Club access rules distinguish between membership, card and airline entitlements. A standard Delta ticket alone does not provide entry, and Delta Main Basic restrictions apply.
Some card benefits have annual visit limits and additional guest charges. Opening hours differ by club, so use the individual location listing for an early or late departure.
Best fit: Delta or partner travellers who already qualify and want a convenient lounge near their departure concourse.
Watch for: Check your remaining card-based visit allowance before travelling. A qualifying card does not necessarily provide unlimited visits throughout the year.
6. Delta One Lounge — Restaurant Dining and Showers for Premium Travellers

Location: Terminal 4, adjacent to the main security checkpoint between Concourses A and B.
Access: Same-day Delta One travellers and specified additional categories.
The Delta One Lounge offers a brasserie, terrace, shower suites and wellness spaces. It has a separate admission policy from the standard Sky Clubs.
The Delta One Lounge page currently lists opening hours of 04:30–23:00. The brasserie operates from 11:00 to 21:30, so an early-morning visit will not include the same restaurant service.
Access also extends to specified partner premium-cabin passengers and certain other qualifying customers. Check the itinerary requirements if you are entering on a partner ticket.
Best fit: Travellers whose ticket includes admission and who have time for a meal, shower or longer break.
Watch for: A Delta Sky Club membership or American Express card alone does not provide entry. General day passes are not sold.
7. JetBlue BlueHouse — Stay Within Terminal 5

Location: Inside Terminal 5’s departure area.
Access: Qualifying JetBlue fares, Mosaic status or specified JetBlue cards.
BlueHouse gives eligible JetBlue travellers a lounge option in Terminal 5, avoiding a lounge-driven trip to another terminal.
Under JetBlue’s August 2026 update, complimentary admission includes qualifying Mint and Mint Flex customers, Mosaic 4 members and JetBlue Premier cardmembers. The benefit depends on eligible same-day travel and available space.
Selected customers can buy a one-time pass at reception:
- Mosaic 3 members: $59.
- Mosaic 1–2 members: $79.
- JetBlue Plus and Business cardmembers: $79.
Check JetBlue BlueHouse eligibility for your exact fare and current opening hours before travelling.
Best fit: JetBlue passengers who qualify for complimentary entry or the restricted paid-pass programme.
Watch for: Qualifying Mint access is no longer limited to transatlantic routes, but it does not automatically include a free companion. Guest benefits differ between Mint, Mosaic and cardholder admission.
8. Admirals Club — A Day-Pass Option for Eligible Terminal 8 Travellers
Location: Terminal 8, Concourse C, third floor across from Gate 42.
Access: Membership, qualifying airline entitlement or a one-day pass with an eligible flight.
The Admirals Club provides food and drinks, Wi-Fi, a full-service bar and a children’s room. Its published opening hours are currently 04:15–22:30.
An Admirals Club One-Day Pass costs $79 or 7,900 AAdvantage miles. You also need an eligible same-day flight: the pass rules cover flights marketed or operated by American, or marketed and operated by a oneworld airline.
For families, the pass policy allows up to three accompanying children under 18, subject to the children’s flight requirements. An additional adult needs their own access entitlement.
Best fit: Eligible Terminal 8 travellers considering a one-off purchase, particularly families who can use the children’s provision.
Watch for: Day-pass admission can be restricted when the club is full. Paying in advance does not guarantee a seat.
9. Greenwich, Soho and Chelsea — Match Your Ticket to the Right Premium Lounge

Location: Terminal 8. Greenwich is above Gate 12; Soho and Chelsea are above Gate 14.
Access: Specific premium tickets or frequent-flyer status, with different rules for each lounge.
These American Airlines and British Airways lounges offer distinct levels of access. Examples include:
- Greenwich: Qualifying American Flagship Business passengers and travellers in business class on qualifying oneworld long-haul flights.
- Soho: Qualifying oneworld first-class passengers and certain Emerald status holders. American and Alaska programme members have additional itinerary conditions.
- Chelsea: Qualifying American Flagship First or Flagship Business Plus tickets, alongside specified top-tier entitlements.
British Airways passengers should use the airline-specific eligibility guidance linked from the joint premium lounge page.
All three list showers. Greenwich currently opens 04:15–01:15; Soho and Chelsea list 04:15–23:30.
Best fit: Travellers with a qualifying premium itinerary or confirmed lounge invitation.
Watch for: An Admirals Club membership or day pass does not grant access to these three lounges. Check the specific lounge attached to your ticket or status.
Which JFK Airport Lounges Fit Your Journey?
For Priority Pass Members
Search the live Priority Pass JFK directory by terminal and visit time. Your usable options may extend beyond the shortlist above.
In Terminal 4, the directory currently includes Air India and Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse. The Clubhouse’s Priority Pass window is 05:00–13:30, with admission within three hours of departure and a maximum three-hour stay. Its listing specifies a $15 shower charge.
Those conditions apply to Priority Pass visits; they are separate from Virgin Atlantic’s premium-passenger arrangements. Also check the guest allowance and visit charges attached to your own membership.
Do not rely on older references to a complimentary annual Sapphire Lounge visit through a non-Chase Priority Pass membership. Use the current Chase access rules described above.
For Families, Showers or a Restaurant Meal
Choose by the feature you need, after establishing that you can enter:
- Travelling with children: Admirals Club publishes a children’s room and a day-pass policy that can accommodate accompanying children.
- Looking for a shower: Delta One and the Terminal 8 premium lounges list shower suites. Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse offers a paid shower under its current Priority Pass conditions. Chase publishes bookable showers, but availability needs confirmation during limited operations.
- Planning a restaurant meal: Delta One’s brasserie is an option for qualifying travellers during its restaurant hours.
- Working before departure: Centurion publishes work facilities and Wi-Fi. Balance those facilities against the distance to your gate.
These are matches based on published facilities, rather than a ranking of food quality, quietness or service. Shower queues and available seating can vary.
Connecting Through JFK?
Lounge entry windows can make a difference on a long connection:
- Centurion: The current Platinum policy permits entry within five hours of a qualifying connecting flight.
- Delta Sky Club: Connecting customers have an exception to the usual three-hour pre-departure entry window.
- Chase Sapphire: The operator’s current conditions permit entry up to five hours before a scheduled connecting flight departing from the same airport, unless the booking conditions state otherwise.
An earlier entry window does not automatically guarantee an uninterrupted five-hour stay under every booking or access arrangement.
For a shower stop, allow time for a possible queue as well as the walk back to your gate. On separate tickets, establish your onward boarding and baggage arrangements before committing to paid lounge access.
Use the JFK Airport Transit & Connections Guide or JFK Airport Self-Transfer Guide for the airport procedures that determine your usable lounge time.
Clara’s Tip: Check your gate when you enter the lounge and set a departure alarm based on boarding time and the walk required. Recheck the airline app before leaving, because a gate change can alter that walk.
Frequently Asked Questions About JFK Airport Lounges
Can Economy Passengers Use JFK Airport Lounges?
Yes. An economy passenger may enter through a qualifying card, membership, frequent-flyer benefit or paid-pass arrangement. Some basic fares are excluded from particular programmes, so the exact ticket still matters.
Can I Buy a JFK Lounge Pass Without a Membership?
There are options, but flight restrictions can apply. Admirals Club has a one-day-pass route for passengers on eligible flights. BlueHouse’s paid passes are limited to specified customer groups. Other lounges may offer paid entry under their own conditions, so establish availability before making a special trip.
Are JFK Lounges Worth It?
They can be worthwhile when you have enough usable time and would otherwise pay for food, drinks or a shower. The value is lower for a short visit or when several adults each need paid admission. Compare the total cost for your party with the facilities you will use.
Can I Use a Lounge After an International Arrival?
Sometimes, but arrival access varies by lounge and credential. You also need permission to access its location after completing any required arrival formalities. Check the lounge’s arrival policy separately from its departure policy; our JFK Airport Arrival Guide explains the airport process.
Can I Stay Overnight in a JFK Lounge?
Do not assume that you can. Closing times and maximum stays generally make departure lounges unsuitable as overnight accommodation. For proper sleep, compare a hotel or a separately bookable rest facility and check its access arrangements.
Final Thoughts
Choose JFK Airport lounges around your actual journey: terminal first, access second, facilities third. Once your connection is organised, the right lounge can turn the time before boarding into a useful break for food, a shower or a little work.
